Love the combat Helix. Folks at Guardian say the coating is KG gunkote, and from the web info, it appears to be a really good. It should stand up to heavy use. I really love G10, its sculpted great on this knife. The flipper tab is really small, but it grips your finger well. The pocketclip is simple and functional. No pocket tearing 3d clips here! Overall it is well designed and really fits the bill as a "tactical" folder.
Great tactical knife. Two-tone compound grind and carbon fiber handle make this a very attractive choice for EDC.
Razor sharp from the factory! Fit and finish are perfect! Easy to open with a buttery smooth action with thumb studs, middle finger spydie flick, or flipper. Easy to hold in my XXXL hands and the all black tactical finish holds up very well! Buy it!
I picked this beauty up yesterday at blade hq and I can't remember the last time I've been so excited about a knife. The design is great. It's light but yet feels extremely well made. The flipper action is smooth and snappy. You do not need to flick the wrist, which to me is what a flipper is supposed to do. I refuse to have a knife that claims to be a flipper yet doesn't flip out unless you flick your wrist. The edge on it is nuts! The helix nano is hands down the sharpest knife I've ever had
This is my first OTF Knife (or automatic, for that matter) and I absolutely have fallen in love with it! The build quality is amazing, the action is satisfying, the fidget factor is through the roof (my wife has already yelled at me a few times for mindlessly playing with it), the ELMAX blade steel is awesome stuff, and I can't find anything about this knife to complain about. If I had to choose a con, it would be that I wish it was designed to be *easily* taken apart/field stripped for easy cleaning and oiling. All in all, I definitely would recommend this knife to any potential buyers, or anyone on the fence about getting an OTF for that matter.
I purchased a Microtech Ultratech and returned it, did not work right at all. Eric told me about the GT Recon so I got the black one , well that's all he had but I love it, very smooth and quick, I have no rattles at all and I have 5 other OTF as well but this one is sweet. I carry it on a neck Lanyard I made with Paracord very easy to reach under my shirt and it's there, pull the lanyard off my head, very cool, or pull it off the ring
This is a rock solid OTF in every regard...great fit, finish, form, blade steel,clip,opens-closes with authority, and an overall excellent bargain or "bang for the buck." Do not hesitate to purchase this knife. I am sold on Guardian Tactical, and lastly cast aside any concerns you may have about this knife accidentally being deployed as it is engineered to require a strong grip and forceful thumb-push.
This was my first Guardian Technical knife purchase. I am a big Microtech fan, (and always will be) and was looking at other options. A friend told me about the GT - OT Fronts crisp action, so I checked them out at BladeHQ. I ended up with a large precision knife that sounds like racking a shotgun. The action is the best I have operated. The Recon-Elite is quite large and impressive, maybe too large for an everyday carry, but a first-class OTF.
IN MY OPINION THIS IS THE BEST PRODUCTION OTF KNIFE ON THE MARKET , IT’S BIG BEEFY BUT AT THE SAME TIME ACTION IS SMOOTH AND SNAPPY . THE BLADE CUTS LIKE A DREAM NOT TO MENTION .
ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY BY THIS KNIFE , I OWN LOTS OF AUTOS, THIS IS NOW NUMBER 1 IN MY COLLECTION. NUFF SAID.....
